See the RBM101S User Manual under
the section “Governor” for more detail. In short, the governor prevents
the user from violating FCC requirements at the 315MHz band which is
subject to FCC part 15.231. If the user violates the bandwidth and/or
periodicity requirements, the governor will kick in and return an error
to the host. In general, the SubGig modules should not be used to send
periodic data but instead be used for event-based signals. Most IoT
applications use low data rate, event based sensing and control messages
which easily fit into FCC limitations. The governor is there to ensure a
user does not accidentally violate the requirements. The governor
should never engage, and if it does it may be necessary to take a step
back and evaluate the system requirements which is something Radio
Bridge can assist with.
